Johnny takes the reigns at the end of Music Month with one of his recent favourites, IN 3D!!!! Andrew learns things about Katy Perry, like she is a singer, and also she is a human being, and Johnny tries not to cry.
107 - TALKING HEADS - STOP MAKING SENSE
The most musical movie yet, Johnny longs for something with actual talking heads, and definitely not a concert film, whilst Andrew ignites the joy and love of David Byrne all over. This is a once in a lifetime episode.
106 - THE ROLLING STONES - GIMME SHELTER
Andrew and Johnny head to Altamont for an explosion of hippies, peace, love and Hell’s Angels. Johnny isn’t big on The Stones, and Andrew mainly spends his time wanting more violence. It’s a sadistic week all over.
105 - BOB DYLAN - DONT LOOK BACK
Music Month begins with a look back at, erm, no, a look to the past, yeah, of Bob Dylan and his time in England. Bob comes to the studio to explain himself and his hatred of journalists, and we all wish we could watch Donovan instead.
104 - PIRANHA 3D
Andrew brings Johnny a gnarly slice of gory horror, and Johnny understands what The Meg could have been in a JAWSOME podcasting event.
103 - THE WACKNESS
Andrew brings out the hot, sweaty late-summer indie gem with Sir Ben Kingsley rapping, and Johnny learns a lesson in hip-hop, and Mary-Kate Olsen for good measure.
102 - KUNG POW: ENTER THE FIST
The Chosen Ones settle down for kung-foolishness, and work out which film would be the most offensive to re-edit and dub over.
Spoiler: it is Schindler’s List.
101 - BEE MOVIE
The internet’s favourite meme becomes an episode, where Johnny contemplates how a human/insect romance could sustain and Andrew pitches various spin-offs, including Tree Movie with Chris Pine and… Willow Smith.
100 - MAMMA MIA!: HERE WE GO AGAIN
It’s episode 100 and Johnny believes we’re watching Highlander 2: The Quickening. Cher, Jim Broadbent and Sean Harris pop in to prepare for the ultimate ABBA experience.
099 - CORALINE 3D
Johnny freaks out about button eyes, whilst Andrew wonders if there’s anything he’d want that’d be worth sewing his own shut. PG horror films and Laika’s output also get thrown in the mix over the course of the show. And anticipation for episode 100.
098 - BEETLEJUICE
Brace yourselves because Alec Baldwin pops back into the studio to talk about Tim Burton’s classic, whilst Andrew regails us of the time he pissed off the sweetest person in the world, Catherine O’Hara. Say her name three times, I dare ya.
097 - HOTEL CHEVALIER & THE DARJEELING LIMITED
We close out the Wes Anderthon with a double-header, and discuss spiritual journies, Wally Wolodarsky as a person and Owen Wilson’s… thing. All as Johnny watches the England Sweden match in the hopes that this becomes an historic document.
096 - CADDYSHACK
Happy Fourth Of July (We’re All Gonna Die (Sufjan Stevens)), we take a break from Wes Anderson to focus on his muse Bill Murray, and a comedy classic full of fireworks and good ol’ American slobs V snobs hijinks. Johnny tries to wrap his mind around the concept of Rodney Dangerfield and Andrew pitches a gender-swap remake once more. TIME’S UP!
095 - THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU
God help Andrew as Johnny finds a way to explain what a horcrux is, whilst the two discuss Jeff Goldblum’s sex appeal and living on a boat. All whilst kind-of watching The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature!
094 - THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS
Johnny dislikes the title of the Wes Anderson film that isn’t about Kings and Queens, Alec Baldwin narrates his own presence, and reminds us of his perfect Donald Trump impression, and Andrew sings some Klassic KoRn raps.
BONUS - SUPER TROOPERS 2
Well here we are, an entire week of pre-amble to the new Broken Lizard film, whilst Andrew tries to recall the houses of Hogwarts and Johnny discusses what he wants to watch on Netflix (Definitely recorded before the Me Too movement!)
BONUS - SUPER TROOPERS
The original film is discussed, a little, whilst Andrew pitches Helen Mirren vehicle DIRTY GRANDMA, the two talk HD-DVD versus Blu Ray and wonder what Brian Cox is even doing here.
BONUS - THE SLAMMIN' SALMON
We enter the seafood restaurant of nightmares and discuss potentials of a sitcom spin-off for the film, Michael Clarke Duncan’s comedy genius and pitch a kids film entitled ‘PIGEON WITCH’ starring Helen Mirren, Ben Whishaw and Maggie Smith. Money in the bank!
093 - RUSHMORE
We’re deep into Wes Anderson month now, with Andrew’s favourite Brian Cox-starring Anderson film, an introduction to Bill Murray Smoking and Andrew and Johnny break out a female-led remake of Rushmore.
BONUS - BEERFEST
Continuing the week of Broken Lizard movies, Andrew takes Johnny on a pub crawl, and Johnny stoically opposes Beer as a flavour, a liquid and a social lubricant, because he is a social lubric-unt.
